A couple of years ago, I walked from my tenured position as an Associate Professor of Philosophy to take a job in the private sector. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Since then, I’ve been contacted by a surprisingly large number of people in academia, including graduate students, faculty, and recent graduates who are struggling with the academic job market. They’re all wondering whether life in the ivory tower is really worth it. But people in academia don’t have much information about how (or whether) to make the transition.
This site is a place to share information, advice, and support for people who are leaving academia.
